If you’re struggling to put food on the table, you could get help from a foodbank. Foodbanks exist to help people out of a crisis and they offer help by giving people in need at least 3 day’s worth of food.

Foodbanks not only offer food to those who are struggling, but they can also offer extra support such as debt advice.

Many people are struggling to feed themselves and their families. This is why foodbanks exist.

If you’re struggling to put food on the table, please don’t suffer in silence. We know that food poverty can cause people to feel anxious, depressed or stressed. We also know that there is no shame in asking for help.

We offer mental health support for Selby and the surrounding areas. Why not give us a call? Our phone line is open from 7 pm – 10 pm, 365 days of the year.

How To Get A Food Voucher

You will need a food voucher in order to use a food bank. You can get a food voucher from professionals as doctors, social workers and health visitors and Citizens Advice.

The food voucher you give to the foodbank will provide them with a little information about you. It will detail why you need support, and it could help you to receive the right food. If you have children, for example, you will be given food for yourself and your children. If you live on your own you will be given enough food to feed yourself. Making sure everyone has the right amount of food means there’s enough for everyone.

Visiting a Foodbank

The thought of visiting a foodbank might make you feel anxious. This is perfectly understandable. No-one wants to ask for help but sometimes we have to. The trained volunteers at the foodbank help many people every week, and they are used to welcoming new people through their doors.

Cooking On A Budget

Cooking on a budget can be hard but it is possible. There are recipes and videos online that can help you to create delicious dishes for not much money at all.

No-one ever said that eating on a budget is fun, but being able to create tasty, hot meals can make you feel better. You do not have to batch cook, you can create slightly or completely different meals each day.

You don’t have to be the world’s best cook to make something tasty. Making something tasty can help your mental and physical health. It can give you energy for the rest of the day, or simply take the edge off how you’re feeling.
