World mental Health Day 2020 is perhaps the most important day yet. 2020 has been a hard year for all of us. Lockdown and other changes to our day-to-day lives have had an impact on our physical and mental health.

Did you know that 60% of adults and almost 70% of young people have said their mental health was affected by lockdown? In addition to this, many people experienced mental health issues for the first time.

This is why making mental health a priority is more important than ever.

World Mental Health Day is a day when there is an increased coverage in mental health issues. Campaigns have been set up by global organisations to encourage others to invest in mental health awareness and treatment. In fact, for the very first time, the World Health Organization will hold an online advocacy event on the issue of mental health.

Access Support

If you do one thing today, please access the support you need. There are many different ways that you can get the help you need.

You can find information online, at your doctor’s surgery, and at support groups. No matter how you do it, please access the support you need. Even a little support can make a huge difference to your day to day life.

Support Someone Who Needs Help

You probably know someone who is consumed with anxiety, depression, or another mental health issue. If you can, try to offer them support.

You don’t have to be there for them every minute of the day. Sometimes just a chat can work wonders. Let them know you care and ask them if they’re getting any help from their doctor or elsewhere.

Make a cuppa and talk to someone who could do with some support right now. Have a virtual cuppa with them and let them know they’re not alone.

You never know, taking a few minutes to talk to them could make a world of difference.
