Mental Health Awareness Week is a yearly event and it gives everyone in the UK the opportunity to consider what good mental health is and how it can be achieved. With mental health affecting 25% of people in a single year, it’s so important that everyone knows how to stay mentally healthy.

We offer mental health support for Selby and the surrounding areas. Why not give us a call? Our phone line is open from 7 pm – 10 pm, 365 days of the year.

Call us on (01757) 642 399. If you call before our phone lines are open and we cannot answer you will be diverted to an NHS Helpline.

As we saw in yesterday’s blog post, this year’s theme is nature. Spending time in nature can help to protect our well-being and reduce stress and anxiety.

During the pandemic, many of us found that getting out of the house and spending time somewhere green made us feel better. It is the Mental Health Foundation’s hope that everyone understands how important nature is when it comes to having good mental health.

Where Can I Go To Benefit From Nature?

To benefit from nature, you could spend time:

  • At a park
  • In a garden
  • In the countryside
  • At a river or lake
  • At the coast
  • Surrounded by plants

  • Surrounded by the wilderness
  • Surrounded by wildlife
  • At home, sitting next to plants or spending time with pets

Please spend at least 10 minutes a day, every day surrounded by nature. This brief amount of time can help you to de-stress, feel less anxious, and have lower blood pressure.
