We know that exercising and mindfulness can help us to lower our stress levels. However, not everyone knows food can also help. The next time you’re feeling a little stressed, considering using some the following foods:
Avocados can help to reduce stress thanks to the essential fatty acids that they contain. In addition to this, avocados can help you to concentrate while also boosting your mood. Enjoy avocado on toast, on its own, turned into guacamole, or as a salad. It’s recommended that you consume half to one avocado a day.
Wholegrains are not only good for you, they can also help you feel less stressed. In addition to this, wholegrains can help you to feel fuller for longer. They’re also full of serotonin, which we all know is the brain’s happy chemical. When you have more serotonin, you’re likely to feel better. This, in itself, is a good reason to eat more wholegrains rather than their white alternatives.
Eating fish twice a week can help to fight stress. This is because fish is high in omega 3’s, which are known as “Essential fatty acids”. Tuna, salmon, mackerel, herring, trout, and halibut can all help with your stress levels. If you’re vegan or you simply don’t like fish, the good news is that walnuts, seaweed, and chia seeds can help to reduce your stress levels.
