Easter usually involves having a bit of a family get-together. While you might not be able to welcome your family inside your home this year, you can still meet some of them in your garden or a public place.
There can be a lot of expectations surrounding Easter, especially if you’re used to cooking a meal for everyone. If you find this time of year particularly stressful, even if you’re not cooking for everyone, you can make the day easier on yourself.
We offer mental health support for Selby and the surrounding areas. Why not give us a call? Our phone line is open from 7 pm – 10 pm, 365 days of the year.
Call us on (01757) 642 399. If you call before our phone lines are open and we cannot answer you will be diverted to an NHS Helpline.
Here are a few tips that can help you to make Easter stress-free:
A great way to have a stress-free Easter is to plan ahead. Come up with a list of things that you need to do and when. Knowing what you’re doing rather than playing it by ear can help to reduce stress levels.
Don’t be afraid to give jobs to everyone who lives with you. A little bit of help can take the weight off your shoulders. If you think you’re going to struggle with your mental health this weekend, please look for Barlby mental health support.
Prepare as much as you can
Are you planning to enjoy an alfresco meal or a buffet with your family? Why not prepare things the night before? this can potentially save you a lot of time on the day.
Cook everything the day before and store everything in the fridge until it’s ready to be eaten. Planning a buffet instead? why not plate everything up and put it in the fridge overnight? Again, you can save yourself a lot of time the next day.
Stock up on everything you’ll need
Stock up on all the food and drink you will need for the big day. Don’t worry if you can’t get everything you want, people will enjoy themselves anyway.
Don’t aim for perfection
Try not to aim for perfection as you’ll find yourself feeling stressed. Remember, your guests will enjoy spending time with you even if things aren’t “perfect”.
Making sure you have a nice time over Easter is much more important than getting everything just right. Think about how nice it will be to see everyone. We’ve all had a tough time lately, so enjoy the chance to relax and unwind. You deserve it.
