Most of us would like to have more money in our savings account. However, saving money can be quite hard. This is especially the case if you do not have a big income. However, there are some tips contained in this blog post that could help you.

Saving money means being able to think over a long period of time and that’s not always easy. As humans, we have evolved to deal with threats which requires short-term thinking. When we have cash, we can be tempted to spend it quicker than we ideally should.

Think about what matters to you over a long period of time. Try to think about why you’re saving and how much that thing or experience you’re saving for matters to you. Set up some reminders for yourself so you’re not tempted to spend too much money, if any at all. Set a reminder or two on your phone. Leave yourself a note by your front door that tells you to limit your spending when you go out.

Make a decision about the changes you are making so that you have more money to save. If you can, set up a direct debit or standing order so your desired sum goes into your savings account each month or week.

Cut out all of those things that you don’t need to spend money on. You might not need as many TV subscriptions, 2 take-outs a month, or expensive nights out. When you cut these things out or down, you’ll start to see how much money you can save.

Make sure you reward yourself for saving money. Buy yourself something that’s not too expensive but is something you want. Do this whenever you have saved a particular amount of money.
