Asking For Help

You could, for example, type “mental health support in Barlby” into your search engine. The results page will display information about local and national groups and charities that could offer you support.

Where You Can Get Help

There are a lot of different options for people who are looking for support. Some of these options can include:

  • Speaking to your GP – Your GP can offer you mental health support. They may diagnose you, offer you treatment, and/or refer you to a mental health professional.
  • Asking for help from support services – Community mental health support services are usually offered to those who have severe or long-term mental health concerns

  • Contacting a local charity – Both local and national charities could offer you support based on your needs.
  • Asking for help from a counsellor or therapist – Counsellors and therapists can offer a range of therapies. You can refer yourself to a therapist, for example, should you wish to.
  • Contacting student services – If you’re a student, you could have access to support services based in your educational institution.

Asking for help can be hard, however, doing so can help you to get your life back. Please take the first step no matter how difficult it may seem. You deserve to get help.
