It might not always be clear who you should talk to. While many people try to deal with their mental health on their own, getting support can mean they are more likely to get better and stay well.

Who to Ask for Support

There are many different types of support available. Some of the options might be very suited to your needs. One of the first things you could do is to search for “Mental health support in Brayton”, for example, into your chosen search engine. You will be shown information about some of your local mental health groups and charities. They could offer you the support you need.

There are likely to be many different options for you to consider when taking the first step to wellness.

Some of the options can include:

  • Your doctor – Your doctor could be the first person you talk to about your mental health. They could offer you some therapy and/or medication. Your doctor is used to talking to people about their mental health, and they will know how to help you.

  • A therapist or counsellor – Therapists and counsellors offer a range of therapies. You can self-refer should you wish to, it’s a fairly simple process and can ensure you get the help you need.
  • Community mental health services – Your local community mental health team could offer you support. Crisis teams can help you if you have severe or long-lasting mental health difficulties.
  • A charity – Local and national charities offer a range of services that could help you.

Asking for mental health support can help you to get your life back on track. Please seriously consider asking for support if you are struggling. There is help available.
