Where You Can Find Support

You can find support in a number of places. Some options you might want to consider are:

  • Your doctor – If you’re looking for help for the first time, your doctor could be your first port of call. They can help you to work out why you’re feeling the way you feel. They can also help you to get the support you need. This support might come in the form of therapy and/or medication. Your doctor could also refer you to someone who can offer you even more support, such as a mental health professional.

  • Community mental health services – Services such as this can help you if you have severe or long-lasting mental health concerns.
  • A therapist or counsellor – Therapists and counsellors offer a range of therapies. Your doctor might refer you to them, or ask you to self-refer via the NHS website. This link has more information.
  • Student Services – If you’re at college or university, your institution could offer you support. Ask your tutor or visit the college’s or university’s website for more details.
  • A charity – Both local and national charities are there to offer support. You can typically find support in Selby and the surrounding areas. You can potentially meet people who are going through the same things as you. This can help you to feel less alone.
