The clocks are changing this weekend which means we will all have an hour less bed. On Sunday the clocks go forward one hour at 1 am. Unfortunately, the change in time can have an impact on our mental health.

Research has shown that putting the clocks forward an hour can impact our sleep and our mood.

Did you know it takes approximately 3 weeks for your brain to get used to the change in time? The first few days might be the hardest, thanks to that lost hour of sleep. However, you could soon forget about the change in time as your body begins to adjust.

Self-Care Tips

Think about spending a little more time outside. Approximately 30 minutes each day could help you to get the vitamin D your body needs. Spending time outdoors has also proven to reduce stress and anxiety.

Did you know that when the clocks change having a sleep routine could help you to stay healthy and happy?

You might feel slightly more tired over the next few weeks. A sleep routine could help you to catch up on that lost hour. Getting enough sleep has also been linked to better concentration and memory, a reduction in stress, and better mental health.

Consider putting your clocks and watches forward before you go to bed on Saturday evening. If you leave it until Sunday, there’s always a chance that you might forget.
