We offer mental health support for Selby and the surrounding areas. Why not give us a call? Our phone line is open from 7 pm – 10 pm, 365 days of the year.

Call us on (01757) 642 399. If you call before our phone lines are open and we cannot answer you will be diverted to an NHS helpline.

We are a low-level intervention support network. Our network is comprised of people from the local community. Some of those who work with us have lived experiences of mental health conditions.

Using a peer-to-peer support model and people who have experiences of mental health conditions, we work to ensure that everyone feels a part of a community.

We want to make sure that we can offer support during these difficult times. We know that more people need mental health support due to the pandemic, which is why we are here.

Here at The Big Communi-tea, we help people to gain access to services and organisations who offer support to vulnerable people. In addition to this, we encourage a variety of support networks to continue to help those who need help across Selby and the surrounding areas.

We Provide Training

We are proud to offer training to individuals and businesses who support people with mental health needs. As soon as the training is complete, any business that has taken part will receive a window decal. This decal shows that they are Mental Health Aware. In addition to this, the decal highlights where someone can enjoy a hot drink and a sympathetic chat. If more support is needed, the venue in question will have a list of contact numbers. The venues can also encourage users to get the support they need.

Once the Pandemic is Over

When the pandemic is over, we will start to offer more regular activities. We are considering offering activities such as art sessions, knitting, glass-making and more. In addition to this, we could offer Citizens Advice sessions and advocacy services.

We will be asking for support from services, with a view to them providing support and advice for just 3 hours a month. This could be offered to those who use our services. Alternatively, we may ask them to help out in the cafe.

Whether you’re looking for Bilbrough mental health services, support in Escrick, or anywhere else in the area, we are here for you. We want to offer a sympathetic ear and a hot drink to anyone who needs support or is lonely. Tea and a chat? we can help with that.
