Bananas contain tryptophan which is an amino acid. Tryptophan can help to improve your mood while also helping to improve your sleep

Raspberries aren’t only very tasty, they can also improve your mood, memory, and coordination. 

Blackcurrants are great for your mental health. They are known to boost your mood, reduce stress, and make you feel more alert. 

Blackberries can stabilise your mood and help to reduce inflammation, plus they taste great. 

Serves 2.


  • 2 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 200 grams of mixed frozen berries such as raspberries, blackcurrants, and blackberries
  • Ice cubes if using a blender or crushed ice if you’re not. 


1 – Add the sliced bananas to a bowl. Tip the frozen berry mix into the same bowl and stir well. Alternatively, stick the bananas and frozen berry mix into a blender. Blend until smooth.

2 – If you’re using a blender, add 3-4 ice cubes and blend until the ingredients are slushy. If you’re not using a blender, add some crushed ice to the bowl of bananas and berry mix and stir until slushy.

3 – Pour the mixture into 2 glasses and serve with spoons.

You may also want to add a few spoonfuls of live yogurt of even vanilla ice-cream to make this dessert even more special.

Think it’s too cold to enjoy this dessert? add all of the ingredients (Apart from the ice cubes) to a small pan and allow them to simmer gently for a few minutes. You can still add live yogurt if you wish.
