Mental health support for Selby and the surrounding areas

Mental health problems can creep up on you, usually starting with small changes in your feelings, behaviour and thoughts. Affecting 25% of people at any time in their life, many choose to ask for help so they can recover quicker.

More and more people are realising that there’s no shame in asking for help. If you were to break your leg, you’d see a doctor. If you had a bad back you might see an osteopath. If you’re depressed or anxious you might see a counsellor or your GP.

We offer mental health help in Selby and the surrounding areas. Why not give us a call? Our phone line is open from 7 pm – 10 pm, 365 days of the year.

Call us on (01757) 642 399.

If you call before our phone lines are open and we cannot answer you will be diverted to an NHS Helpline.

Signs That you Might be Struggling

We all feel anxious, low or irritable from time to time. However, if you have a few symptoms at the same time, you could have a mental health issue.

Some of the symptoms of mental health problems include:

  • Anxiety and irritability

  • A low mood that lasts for more than 2 weeks

  • Becoming withdrawn

  • Becoming isolated

  • Changes in your mood

  • Difficulty in concentration

  • Difficulty in remembering things

  • Experiencing hallucinations

  • Feeling tearful

  • Feeling suicidal or having suicidal thoughts

  • Feeling as if people or organisations want to do you harm

  • Spending excessively and having difficulty managing your money
  • Sleeping too much or a lot less

The good news is that you can get help. You do not have to struggle on your own. You can speak to your GP or a mental health professional. Taking the first step is often the hardest. However, it can help you get a little closer to recovery.
