Most of us look forward to a 3 or 4-day weekend. But did you know that they can have a positive effect on your long-term physical and mental health?

Long weekends allow us to catch up on sleep and they offer us the chance to relax more than usual. We can clear our minds and enjoy having much more free time.

Did you know that the usual 2-day weekend can cause mental health issues? This is because they can disrupt our sleeping pattern. In addition to this, the 2-day weekend can also make it hard to get back to work on Monday morning.

Many people like to catch up on their sleep during the weekend. However, 2 days of more sleep is enough to adjust our sleeping pattern. The impact of this is that when Monday morning comes we can find it hard to get up early.

When you have a 3 or 4-day weekend, you have more time to sleep, spend time with those you love, or exercise. The result of this is a happier, clearer mind.

Great for your Boss

3 or 4-day weekends are great for your boss. Not only will they get to enjoy time off, but they can enjoy dealing with fewer absent employees. A study that took place in 2018 showed that a long weekend can help to reduce stress, improve work/life balance, and increase work satisfaction. It seems that an extra day or two off work can make the office a nicer place to be.

That’s enough work talk, for now, enjoy the rest of your long weekend!
